Mark C. Haskins
I create my photographic images with a strong desire to realize a tangible
element of my esthetic visions. The images are usually results of my lucid dreams,
blending the world my eyes see with themes of myth, allegory and folklore, as well
as inspiration from artworks of painters, sculptors and photographers.
The collaborative effort from the human subjects that I choose to place in a
scene are an important element in the finished visual works, connecting my
efforts with the interpretation of others.
Every photographer and viewer of photography brings their previous life
experiences to influence how they create and interpret images. I create
what I believe to be an esthetic element -- beauty in my mind at the very least.
If along this journey you find an image I create that beneficially communicates
to you, it is all the more my pleasure to play a role in that experience.
My background includes formal education in photography and other media
production. My work experiences include feature motion picture production with
several screen credits, television production, and business media applications.
My early photography experience was shooting film and making my own prints in
the darkroom. Recently I have leveraged my technology knowledge to embrace
digital photography processes, in addition to a lot of film that I continue to shoot.
The primary physical elements in my photographic images are what I
viewed through the lens. I make appropriate esthetic adjustments free from
the constraints of some styles, such as reportage photography, but without
significantly changing the reality of what I initially viewed through the lens.
Viewing my work in a digital medium, such as here on the web, is only a
beginning. I create with an intention of my photography to exist as an object
in the form of a print. Portfolios of themed work are available for review by
galleries, curators and other acquirers of fine art photography.
